The project comprises of the refurbishment and extension
to an existing 19th century double fronted house
in Blackrock south Co Dublin.
The brief was to sensitively adapt the existing house
and construct an extension to the rear, which would provide
a light-filled adaptable space suitable for contemporary
family life while forming a connection between the house
and garden.
The asymmetrical composition of layered transparent elements
to the rear elevation draws the garden into the house
in contrast to the solidity, formal massing and symmetry
of the original house.
The existing axis through the house is reinforced and
a strong visual connection from the entrance hall of
the existing house to the new extension is established
